Thanks so much for visiting today – your comments have inspired me to keep writing and are helping me to improve – THANKS!
Synopsis: Laura, who has been held captive at the Rock Creek Center, is part of a secret government study tucked away in the mountains of Montana under the cover of a boarding school for troubled teens. The first two floors host completely normal educational operations and dormitories, but the locked third floor is home to a select group of youth who are involuntarily the subjects of mind-control experiments. Laura has just been recaptured from her second failed escape attempt and the director she stabbed in her flight to freedom has been transported to the third floor for medical treatment, where he will personally carry out Laura's punishment, upon recovery. Laura is determined to be free, no matter what the consequences.

Laura gasped as the swirling rainbow mist, emerging from the songs of their hearts, painted a detailed 3D mural. The walls, ceiling, and floors blazed with a tangible, sparkling light that glittered and glowed.
Josh giggled as Laura's mouth dropped at the sound of a bird's cheep-a-cheep-cheep. "No way!" Laura whispered, knowing the room was under surveillance. "Are you kidding? This is real?"
Behind the two-way mirror, Dr. Gates was busy taking notes.

This is a true story from my blog that I'm slowly rewriting into fiction. Laura, whose name means "Victorious One," is dreaming in this segment, and discovering that her dream life closely parallels and links to her conscious life, supplying her with uncanny wisdom that fuels her journey to freedom. Thank you for any wisdom or guidance you may have!

Wow, loved the mystery here! Definitely want to know what's up with the two-way mirror and a doctor! Great 8! 😀
You’re a blessing, Karen – thanks!
Great premise! Very descriptive excerpt 🙂
Hi Lisa… thanks so much for taking a moment to read and comment! 🙂
I love descriptions you've used. I can imagine what she's seeing. The blunt line about the Dr. drags me out of the beautiful illusion, reminding me she's captive. Nice job.
Thanks so much, Millie – I’m grateful for you reading and sharing feedback!
I hope this is something she can use to get away! This story is so compelling , Susan! Great job 🙂
Teresa, I so much appreciate you coming each week – THANKS so much! 🙂

Wonderful word painting, but I feel really sorry for her.
Hi Elaine… thanks for coming by! Laura will eventually bring the whole school down, releasing all the children… it’s quite amazing how it all turns out. Thanks for your encouragement!
Awesome descriptions. I'll have to return to find out what happens!
Thanks so much, Ann! 🙂
Beautiful image. Wonder what the Dr is doing????
Hi Victoria, it’s kind of you to visit – thanks! Dr. Gates is in charge of the mind-control experiments, and he has not succeeded with Josh, who had exceptional paranormal capabilities. There’s much more, but I can’t share just yet. Thanks for stopping by!
The scene is gorgeous and I hope maybe the bird represents something she can use to escape! She needs to be out of there! Great snippet.
Hi Veronica,
Thanks so much for coming by again this week! The bird will be used to help Laura escape, but not in an ordinary way. For now, she’s learning that life – real life – can exist even in the darkest and most hopeless of places.
Thanks so much for reading and sharing – I appreciate you!
Beautiful imagery! I'm interested to read the next snippet!
Thanks for stopping in, Lauren – have a beautiful weekend!

That photo is astonishingly gorgoeus and your snippet is enticing and erie.
I was as amazed as Laura when I first saw it … it’s more beautiful than words can describe. Thanks so much, D.J.! 🙂
Beautiful description and rude reminder with the last sentence about Dr. Gates. Wonder if painting should be painted?
Great #8 – can't wait to read more next week!!
You’re always a welcome visitor, Susan, and I appreciate your comment – I’ll take a look at the grammar – THANKS!
