Wow, what a RIDE!

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, WOW WHAT A RIDE!’” ~ Hunter S Thompson

Do you ever feel like you can't compete with "normal"? For those of us who have lost it all, more than once, it can feel intimidating to live side-by-side with people who celebrate double-digit anniversaries, buy and sell houses, have retirements, and all of the rest.

Years ago I recorded a dream, a "parable" for my life story. In the dream my husband and I were entered in a professional race. We were driving a race car, in fact, when suddenly he stopped the car, got out, and left. I had no choice but to keep driving, even though I had no training or experience as a race car driver.

I drove for 22 laps and then crashed and burned. To my surprise (as an observer in the dream, following the crash) the crowd stood to their feet and applauded me! To them, I was an amazing success, because I handled the race car without any previous experience or training, for 22 laps.

This dream has been a parable for me, because whenever I see "normal" families whether on Facebook or in regular life, I often feel like a total failure. What if I had done this… or avoided that… or chose this instead…. what if I could have written a better script for my life story, back then?

But God sees my life from a totally different perspective, just as He sees you, too, vastly different than you may see yourself.

What if by choosing…

  • to risk everything for your faith…
  • to not play it safe, but to adventure deeper and farther than most people do….
  • to see Christ behind enemy lines instead safely behind His army….

We have chosen well to leap off the edge of mediocrity? (Not everyone does!)

What if your unbridled faith has brought tears of Joy to His eyes? (It's true!)

What if your courage to keep going, to never quit or run away has inspired even the Great Cloud of Witnesses who are eagerly watching what you are doing with your faith in these exciting days? (It's real!)

As for me, I believe the crowd in my dream is the Great Cloud of Witnesses we read about in the Bible, the saints who have already moved on from this world to the glorious beyond. I believe they see me as God sees me, scared to death many days but persevering. I'm still driving. It's been 16 years since my divorce but I'm still running my race. It's a race I was never trained or equipped or prepared to drive. I feel like I've been hanging on for dear life.

Your life may be messy and feel like it's out of control, but just know that you're blazing trails. Most people have no idea of the courage it takes to live your life.

There is a Great Cloud of Witnesses who see everything the way life actually is. God sees you coming out of the Shadowlands of fear-based living. You might be all messy, dirty, bloody and broken – but in His eyes you are ravishing!

White Dove

Hi, I’m White Dove. Yes, it’s my pen name, and it was given to me by a blind man who shyly whispered it to me in a Divine encounter. Yes, it’s my real picture… just an ordinary selfie.

I live with my family in the mountains, surrounded by ancient forests, pure streams, and mighty rivers… but I also travel quite a bit.

My kingdom career is a Heart Scribe. I love to write from God’s heart and have been recording His living Word for the past three decades. It’s brought me so much beauty, joy, peace, and happiness!

I love to inspire trauma survivors to write their life stories, unearthing the treasures of their past and sowing them into the future. We dip our pens in blood and write the pain away… as God has shown me how to do, in the company of supportive friends and family. We are writing ourselves into a better world, beginning with discovering our own original design recorded in the DNA of our soul, and it’s the most exciting place to be!
