The Morning Prayer

Imagine you've just had a long drive, moving from out of state and you're really tired, burned out, and you wonder if you've made the right decision. Did you hear God's voice? That was me, 4 years ago.

With a clear, confident voice, your 6-year old granddaughter begins to sing:

"I wake up in the morning,

I see the trees and sky.

I go outside.

I see the birds and the butterflies,

I say a little prayer for someone.

Then I do something for someone.

Our brains are for thinking about God.

Then we say a little prayer for someone.

We do something for someone."

Danielle explained to me, "Gramma, you don't hear God with your ears. You listen with your heart. And then you sing what you hear in your heart."

I wrote Danielle's song in my journal because it reminds me how to pray and how to live each day, one sunrise at a time.

My brain is for thinking about God, not for second-guessing, third-guessing, and then doubting myself. Whatever mistakes I may have made are already covered. The resources have already been set aside. Nothing is impossible with God.
