Nonsense, you say?

"I Dare to Believe" by Susan Schiller

Audio Version Available Here

Abstract artist, Pablo Picasso said that "the chief enemy of creativity is good sense." What do you think?

Yesterday, someone said publicly, "Sue, she's fearless!" Oh, but I am not! Not yet. I simply broke up with Normal. I burned the bridge, you see. I'm not fearless. I'm just crazy. Good crazy, I believe.

And I'm praying to get crazier, more foolish, and to believe in some more nonsense. I'll humble myself and be a child again, and dream impossible dreams. I'll break them down into goals and work them out each day.

If I were a young shepherd boy, named David, the youngest of seven brothers – all great war veterans – what would you think if I told you the chief spiritual leader in our country just anointed my head with oil, decreeing I would be the next king? Would you believe I'd be leading armies into battles and creating a neverending dynasty?

Nonsense, you might say!

What if I came to you holding five stones and a sling shot and told you I'd fight the glowering giant, Goliath?

Nonsense, you might say!

What if I told you I was Daniel and my government enemies had thrown me into a lion's den, where I spent all night. In the morning, the king arrived at the den to see if anything was left of me, and I said, "Good morning, your majesty!"

Nonsense, you might say!

What if I was a young virgin named Mary, the daughter of a poor family in Nazareth, and I told you that I was pregnant and God was the Father of my child, and that my child would grow to become the King of all kings, ruler of the whole world?

Nonsense, you might say!

What if I told you I was Joshua, leading the army of Israel and I commanded the sun to stand still and it remained high in the sky for more than 24 hours?

Nonsense, you might say!

What if I told you my name is Ghandi and I led a 200-mile march to the sea for my people to gather salt? That I fasted 21-days to protest a war, and that I peacefully fought for my country and we gained independence on April 15, 1947? A war won without violence?

Nonsense, you might say!

What if I told you my name is Helen and although I am deaf, dumb, and blind I've learned to communicate and my words have gone into the whole world, advocating for the rights of the disabled?

Nonsense, how could that be?

"All the best people are crazy," Alice's father said to his daughter. “Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast,” he continued to reassure Alice.

Nonsense, do you think, can it be good?

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”  – Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Nonsense, I need more of it! How do I become even more a fool?

Have you ever prayed, "God, make me more of a fool than I already am?"

…but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong… – 1 Corinthians 1:27

We're designed to co-create our own world.

I have a dream, an impossible dream. I've been dreaming with God and I cannot shake this dream, this new world kind of dream. Like Lewis Carroll, in my dream nothing is the way it is in our world today.

One morning, I awakened with a bold thought: "Take a quantum leap!I dare to believe these impossible things and suddenly it's already begun to happen! One by one they are all beginning to come true, a little bit at a time!

If you are reading this, and you're sick and tired of the recurring theme in your life, as I am. Enough is enough!

Let's pop a qwiff! You are more than enough. You are larger, stronger, more powerful than you think! And maybe that's what you're afraid of, because people don't like to see us shine.

Jealousy, envy, and self-hatred can be the biggest stumbling blocks… especially for women. I believe they are the greatest obstacle to each of us allowing ourselves to be creative, to shine.

As for me, I'm going to keep daring to believe. I'm not going to shrink myself or my dreams, no matter how much rejection, ridicule, and scorn.

Whoever wants to, can say, "Nonsense!" and I'll simply smile. That's my latest secret, you know?

Our state of the union, I believe, is in dire need of creatives… but not necessarily what "makes sense" in current culture. We need YOU and your creativity, your talents, your dreams, and your daring to believe, which means working the dreams.

YOU have more resources than you can use. Abundant life means having more than enough. The kingdom of heaven is within you, as you are in Christ and He lives in you. Maybe you just didn't know this is your inheritance! It does against all natural principles and defies your current circumstances, that's why we often to don't receive what we pray for!

It's a new dimension to earth living. We BELIEVE and RECEIVE in order to make manifest in our lives. I'm still learning how!

With every fiber of my being I commit myself today to keep believing in at least six impossible things before breakfast. Your turn, now… what do you believe? Do you have at least six impossible things? Have you written them down? Are you beginning to see them come into being?

I have done many things in my life that sound impossible, including selling everything and moving to the Caribbean for a few years. It is fun and important to follow your dreams.

A daily affirmation written by Nick Castellano, to be spoken twice a day:

DECREE OF THE SONS OF GOD!

“Who am I not to be great? Me, with the imagination of a brilliant
child and the powers of an ancient  Loving God.

“Who am I to be ordinary? Me, who you created to bring order to
Chaos, to heal the sick and raise the dead…in the name (authority
and character) of the Christ Jesus!

“Who am I to be afraid? Me, who can serve and do not judge while
empowering infinite lives “on Purpose” while being the “salt and the
light” of this world!

“Who am I to be a slave to the past? Me,  who lives in the “NOW
” moment in alignment with “I AM”, Me,  who can travel time like the
oceans and rewrite history with a single word!

“Who am I to be anonymous? Me, whose name should be spoken in
reverent tones or in terrified whispers because of the powerful God I
serve!

“Who am I to deny greatness? If I would deny it to myself, I cannot
magnify my awesome God as I deny it to the entire world.”  And the
world should Not be denied!  (JOHN 3:16)(JOHN 17:1
)

This is such an inspirational post.  I always write down everything that I want to come to true.  There's always something magical that happens when you put the pen to the paper.  Thanks for the great post!

I agree about “magical” when it comes to writing down our dreams, goals, and really… everything! Thanks so much for sharing, Nate 🙂

Again, you just blow me away with your words! I think we are surely kindred spirits. Thank you for sharing these words. I am not fearless either. I'm timid and anxious and it makes no sense to be as bold as I am daring to be this year. And that's just how it seems to work. Ken Medema wrote a song called The Call and there's a line that sings "it's a call to live like fools/by another set of rules…/I hear the music and it's calling me/come and be all that you were born to be/and if anybody would come after Me/ take up your cross and follow." Anyway, you just brought those lyrics to mind. This piece would be so inspiring to hear recorded in your voice. Think about it. I'd love to hear you speak this!

Hi Jamie, I do feel we are kindred spirits. There’s something about your eyes and the peace I see in you. I sense your quietness, too, but there’s a blaze of fire from deep within. You’re anything but quiet, really…. even though we can easily be mistaken for “quiet”.

Keep being bold – we can help each other with that! I will record this, as you suggested. I do record from time to time, but usually I forget. Thanks for this suggestion 🙂

Much love to you, Jamie – it’s going to be a great year for all of us!

Susan – no, I haven't made that list.  Yes, I am going to make that list now (after I read some other blogs). I have done the impossible. It's time to do it again.

Ah, I see your brave! There’s something powerful about writing the vision down, writing the goals down, and then looking backward, as well, on successes of the past. Yay for you, Alana, in daring to do even greater things than before. Thanks so much for sharing, here, too 🙂

I love this. You and I are of one heart and the same mind.  We are beings of infinite potential.  God has great things in store for each and every one of us, if we just let him.
