My Three Healers: Nature, Creativity, and Writing My Story
By: Susan Deborah Schiller
Creativity is the best therapy, for me. Soaking in nature, walking barefoot. I make it my daily practice, as often as I can, anyway! Beauty is God, and God is Beauty. Love is God, and God is Love. Truth is God, and God is Truth. So when you focus on beauty, you are seeing God.
There are many support groups online for sociopathic abuse survivors, but I found I could not be part of them for long, because victims sometimes place all the blame, and thus, the focus on the abuser.
I chose a different path – a path of gratitude.
The following stories are examples:
In writing our stories, we process what happened, but we are not alone. The Holy Spirit quickens our pens to write in such a way that it changes our perspective of what happened. In the silence of writing we begin to hear the Creator of the Universe and we begin to rewrite our future.
We need silence, solitude, and a surrendered heart.
Perhaps Fyodor Doestoyevsky said it best: "Beauty will save the world." And in the aftermath of a sociopath or narcissist, beauty heals and will help you get your life back. What beautiful things have you stopped to contemplate today?
Do you like to take pictures, draw, write poetry, or sing? Maybe dance? Is there something creative tugging on your heart, that perhaps you might give a try this week?
