The Great Adventure

The Great Adventure

By: Susan Schiller

From the series, "Love from Papa"

Do you ever feel cornered by obstacles that won't budge? It might be debt, chronic illness, grief, relational challenges or a zillion other things. Sometimes it's tempting to throw in the towel. Many Christians live for the hope of the Rapture… an early out from tribulations. That's been me more often than not, it seems.

But what if the very trials we often despise all turned into an equivalent weight in pure glory? Would it be worth it to persevere? That's what I'm believing for, because it's God's justice system, these weights and scales. I'm putting all my confidence and trust in a God who is turning my messes into something beautiful and amazing! It's happening more and more, for me, which causes me to have a high level of faith, expectancy, and hope for all survivors of narcissistic and sociopathic abuse!

The mystery of mysteries is that God lives in you and me. Not just theory, right? So that's got to look like something humungously huge! I want to see the substance of this Truth manifested in my life even more and it turns out that our great God does most of the work as we learn to rest, to just be, and to trust Him.

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." — John 15:4

As I slipped into that quiet place at His breast, I heard Papa God whisper…

"Simply believe, Little One. Focus on Me. I will supply each need. Be confident in My ability to know what is right and best. Be content with being poor in spirit. It is the way to being blessed. Blessed are those who aren't seeking happiness in this world's system. Know who I really am and then use your imagination to explore the limitlessness of Heaven. Open the eyes of your heart to see true wealth and real life, not the illusions of this world. Dream of the Great Adventure."

Listening for God's whispers has changed my whole spiritual perspective and restored my childhood to me. Unless we become like a child, we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven! Instead of a judgmental, critical God who I had to work very hard to please, my Papa God is now known to me as the kindest person I've ever met. His unconditional love knows no bounds, and best of all, there's no more need to strive. He carries the heaviest part of my load! It is, indeed, the Greatest Adventure of all!

With all my love,

Susan
