Go West, You Say

Go West, You Say

By: Susan Schiller

Many people are hearing a similar call to a radical counter-cultural lifestyle – a life without fear. Have you, too?

I don't want to miss a day of living a full life, an abundant life. Life is happening right here and right now… not some day after we retire or after we die. Real life, independent and free, is our rightful inheritance. Have you also heard the call, as He once called to me, "Saddle up your horses and get ready to ride – the ride of your life?"

In recovering from our abusers, it's often good to pick up roots and start out in a brand new place. It helps to retrain our minds to think in a new way. I don't see it as running away from problems, if God definitely calls you to pack up and move. For me, my problems came with me but I met new people and I began to feel safe… but not at first.

At first, it was hell. But then, I had prayed to know God in those deep, dark places. It takes a passion for radical living, for ruthless trust, and for relentless faith. Passion is underrated in our world where so many people act like robots, doing the same things over and over again each day. Sometimes you just have to step out on the wild side and swim upstream.

This was my prayer… that changed everything….

I want to know You in the deepest, darkest places.

I want to be there as Your sword pierces hell and destroys the dungeon of lies.

My prayer unlocked the door and I stepped out into the wild.

Go West, You Say.

I could have stayed in the quiet place of peaceful anonymity.

But I saw them, all these people,

and God said to me: "Take their pain."

Go West, You Say.

I entered the hellish place.

I embraced my own cross.

My body, mind, and soul were broken on the freedom trail.

Go West, You Say.

Abandoned in the high desert.

Homeless in a hayfield.

I learned You were there and all my fears melted away.

Go West, You Say.

I'm finding my way back Home.

Where childlike trust meets wide open spaces.

Into the great unknowing.

Go West, You Say.

This taste of wide open spaces

has groomed me to grin in the face of disaster.

The smell of freedom has sunk down deep into my bones.

Go West, You Say.

Living on the wild side.

Exploring the vast regions of freedom.

All the pain is gone.

Go West, You Say.

Sometimes God will take you out of your comfort zone.

Away from all you've known and loved.

To find security, rest, and peace.

In Him alone.

this phrase makes me grateful….I don't want to miss a day of living a full life, an abundant life. Life is happening right here and right now… not some day after we retire or after we die. ….

i have had so many opportunities to spend quality time with family – time i can't replace, time i'm glad i spent.  time that was wonderfully lovely!

I’m with you, Marvia – what if that is all we can take with us (which is what I think will happen) – our relationships and the love we gave and received? You are a wealthy woman, indeed!

Beautiful photos to emphasize the poem.  I couldn't get my message to post, and apparently "got lost at sea."  I remember saying abundance is a state of mind.  I may have very limited funds, but I live abundantly.  Hope you are having a better day than I.

Beautiful photos to emphasise the poem.  I may be as far west as I can get right now, but I will always chose to live free.  And abundance is a state of mind.  I may have very limited funds, but I live abundantly.  Thanks for reminding us.

Thanks so much, Elizabeth… I totally agree with you that true wealth is in our perspective, our state of mind and our level of emotional satisfaction and spiritual wellbeing. I believe true wealth, in terms of dollars and cents, springs from that type of mindset. I’m still in the rebuilding stages of developing my mindset. I used to live by default. I’m starting to regain my creativity, too….

I hope you are having a better day today than yesterday… I sending you love, light, and hugs 🙂
