Creating Beauty out of Chaos

Creating Beauty out of Chaos

Chaos… descending upon an elementary school in Oklahoma where children huddled, terrified and battered by an horrific tornado. Children and teachers dead. In Ohio, three teenage girls kidnapped and held captive for ten years just a few feet away from good people. In Florida, a church bus full of elderly passengers is hit by a train and all perish. All in this week's news.

Everyone is sensing the unrest, this maelstrom, a malignant chaos.

My dreams over the past few years have warned me that a time is coming soon when the earth will change forever, almost in an instant of time. A storm is brewing, of a size no man has yet imagined. A time of shaking for this planet.

Is it God, in His judgment, shaking this earth – sending this chaos? No, I don't think so. I once asked Him about that, and this is what He showed me:

Picture this: Chaos poured out of the sky, down to earth, in the form of hideous monsters that took foot, running, as soon as they reached earth. Each had an assignment of terror and destruction, their targets already marked. I looked for the source of this chaos – who was raining down terror upon the earth? Was it the devil? No, I don't think so.

What I saw, instead, was a lot of people talking trash talk.. negative words… judgment, critism, hatred, racial prejudice, violence, and all kinds of evil. This violence and evil were amplified and multiplied on the televison and radio waves too. Children and teens played with evil on their video machines. Mahem in the air waves, and no one understood what they were creating.

The universe always responds to our thoughts, words, and actions. It was designed to obey our commands! We are humans and have been given all authority on earth, to establish justice, peace, and to bring about prosperity for all… or… the opposite.

How much of the chaos am I responsible for, I wonder. All the negative self-talk… the monkey chatter in my brain. I'm doing so much better now, but there's still a toxic waste dump from the past that needs to be cleared out of my own head. It's only recently that I've discovered we create the atmosphere of our world.

Our prayers become the script of our life!

When chaos descends, polluting our atmosphere with the "stuff" that grinds us down, day-by-day and hour-by-hour, how can we create a new atmosphere?

Once again I went to Papa God and asked Him.

He pointed me to the book of Esther and he taught me how to "make a decree". In this Old Testament book, it was looking really bad for God's people. A psychopath named Haman conceived a master plan to massacre a whole tribe of people – the Jews. Genocide on a mass scale. But God was already light years ahead of Haman, having given Queen Esther favor with the king. When her Uncle Mordechai discovered the wicked plot, he covertly met with the queen, exhorting her to use her favor to stall the massacre.

The Great Reversal

Mordechai told Esther, "Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4)

To keep this short, I'll skip to the ending, which I call the "Great Reversal". Instead of a massacre, the Jews get armed and dangerous and by the king's own decree, in writing, they are released to kill the very people who were sent to slaughter them. It took them more than one day to scoop up all the plunder, for it was a very great reversal.

Evil had planned to slaughter ALL of the Jewish men, women, and children. Instead, their very own plot was reversed and turned back on their own heads. Haman lost everything, being hanged on the very instrument of death he had built for Morechai.

Papa God began to show me how to do the same thing, in my own life.

Make a Decree, Write it Down

In fact, as I'm typing this, the little book I made is sitting right in front of me. It contains all of the decrees I made, using God's promises and His Word. As I read through the decrees I created back in 2007, I am finding that nearly all if it has come to pass, as of 2013.

Since then, I've made even more decrees – all based on God's promises and His Word. Every single time I make a decree, consistently and persistently, my world changes.

  • I used to be unloved, abused, and abandoned. Now I'm loved, treasured, and cherished.
  • I used to be homeless. Now I've got a wonderful home.
  • I used to be chained to a job I didn't like. Now I'm working doing what I love.
  • Evil plots have been exposed in my life. A great reversal is still in progress, and I'm blessed beyond measure!

I Live A Magical Life

I'm not saying my life is perfect… nope! I regularly aim for imperfection, anyhow, these days. The picture I'm painting is a doorway to a new world… a world that we co-create with Papa God. Our of the chaos of our own lives, we create the atmosphere of Heaven, using our thoughts – our words – our prayers – to create our world.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.Genesis 1

And God said… let there be…. and it was so.

Together, let's get your life back – recover your soul – rewrite your future! We're on the way home.

You must try to bring the presence of God to your families. I think that just being together and loving one another brings peace and joy and strengthens the bond between family members in the home. That is the way to overcome all the evil that is in the world. – Mother Teresa

As I was reading your article, I could not help but think of the chaos I see in the world today and especially in our country here in the United States. When we realize how we have not stood up as Esther did to all the rejection of our Lord, God Almighty and the compromises we have made, what can we expect? Now only God will be able to restore our country as He sees fit. Our prayers will not fall on deaf ears.. God hears and will answer based on His plan. Thank you for your thoughtful, inspiring words of encouragement.

Dang Susan!  Think you hit the nail on th head.  Life and death are in the power of the tongue.  Imagine what would happen if we all, and I mean ALL, chose to speak life, health, healing, and cure?  What would happen if we all responded in the opposite spirit rather than in retaliation?  God help me use my words for good, for life, and for edification!

It can begin with us, even with just a small minority…. it doesn't even take ALL… but I get you – just imagine!

Thanks, Marvia 🙂

I love, love, love the story of Esther – one of the best studies by Beth Moore I've completed!  And I love that part of the story – that she was created for "such a time as this" – awesome!  I can relate to so many aspects of this article.  I love how you call Him "Papa God" because He really is that to us.  Thanks so much for sharing your heart!

Your words bring comfort to anyone who is seeking to make sense out of tragedy and hard times. And they are all the more powerful because you have experienced the joy of God's healing. He has brought you out of your own chaos and now you are sharing your wisdom to help others. That's wonderful!

Hi Carolyn,

As you know so well, it's one thing to come out of a victim mentality, to be a survivor… but then the next step – just as powerful – is to move from surviving to thriving. Oh how I wish this for all of us who have been survivors… that we can make that next step to thriving! It makes my heart pound, just to envision women rising up to reach their dreams!

Thank you so much for your kind words!

There certainly has been a lot of chaos in the world but I don’t think we should be that surprised. People are lost and hurting in a mixed up world. I love your idea of writing down decrees based on God’s promises!

Hi Sue,

I'm not sure why I'm surprised at tragedy… except that maybe I'm so much of a dreamer that I believe with all my heart that as we awaken to our true selves, as sons and daughters of the Most High God – that some day we will remember what life is supposed to be like. Like waking up from a nightmare, we can return to righteousness and justice….

I do know that making decrees and declaring them works!

Thanks so much for your lovely words, Sue – I appreciate you and your compassion and desire to help women's lives become healthier!
