Scriptural Prayers Customized for Abuse Survivors

There is one thing that has saved my life more than anything else, and that is “crafted prayers”. Over the years I have crafted prayer based on Scriptures, promises, and words that God has whispered in my ear. I print them out. I read them out loud. I record them on MP3’s in my own voice. I drown out the voice of the enemy with these prayers, which weave themselves into the fabric of my soul.

Graham Cooke does such an amazing job of teaching this type of prayer that I will copy some of the notes I’ve taken from his talks:

“Every obstacle, every problem, every attack is allowed and designed to teach you to become more like Jesus. That’s why every problem comes with a provision attached to it. As Christians, we must stand in the midst of hte problem, knowing God’s promise, and expect a provision. All things work together for good in the economy of God. There are no Great Depressions or stock market crashes.

When we craft a prayer, our crisis becomes an opportunity for God to work… It doesn’t matter how big and powerful the thing against us is, God has made us mmore than conquerors…

It’s time to use prayer to turn the tables fon the enemy. We can make the devil tired, weary, depressed, and discouraged. In fact, we can wear him out exactly as he has worn out the church… your vengeance is that every attackk the enemy throws at you will be turned around by God and used to bless you….

It’s not just about my personal good but about people around me seeing something of God in my circumstances…. Romans 8:28-31 tell us that in every set of circumstances there is a pre-determined pathy for us to follow that is guaranteed to make us more like Christ.”

It’s “The Great Reversal” – time to make your enemies run!

Think of what happened to Haman in the book of Esther! Haman had planned to slaughter ALL of the Jewish men, women, and children. Instead, his very own plot was reversed and turned back on his own head. Haman lost everything and was hanged on the very instrument of death he had built for Morechai.

Papa God began to show me how to do the same thing, in my own life.

Make a Decree, Write it Down

In fact, as I’m typing this, the little book I made is sitting right in front of me. It contains all of the decrees I made, using God’s promises and His Word. As I read through the decrees I created back in 2007, I am finding that nearly all if it has come to pass, as of 2013.

Finally, I’d like to thank a brilliant praying woman named Terri Jones, who sparked the idea in my mind of taking the prayers I’ve stored in my journals – the ones that helped me escape to freedom – and to collect them for you here.

This is a new page, and will be filling soon with new prayers. If you’d like to contribute, please feel free to add your prayers in the comment box below – THANKS!
